Social Media & Season 3 Updates

Read Now

Hi Friends!

A couple quick updates! First, we are going to stop posting over on Twitter/X starting today. Our socials are now on Mastodon (here's the link to find us : https://universeodon.com/@starrytimepod). We also periodically post over on Tumblr (here: https://www.tumblr.com/starrytimepod).

Second, we're about to start recording Season 3! We're going to work on getting a few episodes done before launch. The exact launch date is TBD, but it will be this fall. It's gonna be... WILD :)

Transcriptions & YouTube

Hi Friends,

We're starting to work on getting transcriptions of our episodes available -- it will be a bit of a process, but just an FYI that we're working on it and will add them as we get them set up!

Additionally, we now have a YouTube page where our episodes will be posted because Google Podcasts is no more. These will be audio-only and you can find them here: www.youtube.com/channel/UCCjfXQ4sX8NuJsZ-aYcf8nQ

Hi Friends,

We're excited to release our podcast on the mythology of the constellation Orion tomorrow!

Please be aware that the original myth involves mentions of sexual assault. Our discussion of this part of the myth is not explicit, but we did want to provide a content warning for listeners.

Postponing Our Episode this Week

Read Now

Hi Friends,

I'm sorry to say there will be no episode this week. The episode has been recorded, but the computer we use for editing decided to go on vacation early.

We're working on fixing the computer, and we plan to use some of our upcoming vacation time to get ahead on our recording to avoid this in the future. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

In the meantime, since we can't release our episode this week, we want to let you know what's coming next week. We'll be doing a review (and ret-cons, of course) of the pilot episode of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda -- a space opera that aired from 2000 to 2005. And, yeah, we had *thoughts* a lot of them.

So, if you want to prepare for this next episode, the pilot tiled "Under the Night," is available for free (with ads) on various streaming platforms (YouTube, PlutoTv, Tubi, and Amazon).

We apologize again for the delay, and we thank you for continuing to support and listen to the pod!

With love,
Kit & Jordan

Andromeda: Cosmic Background Notes

Read Now

Hi Friends,

Our episode on the astronomy of the constellation Andromeda is now available!

As mentioned in the episode, there is a lot of info out there on our galactic neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy, so if you want to deep-dive here are some more sources we enjoyed:
  • Dr. Moiya McTier's Autobiography of our Galaxy: The Milky Way
    • Highly recommend! Here's a link: https://www.moiyamctier.com/the-milky-way
  • A couple NASA links:
    • https://science.nasa.gov/mission/hubble/science/explore-the-night-sky/hubble-messier-catalog/messier-31/
  • Zoomable ESA picture: https://esahubble.org/images/heic1502a/zoomable/
  • PBS feature: https://www.pbs.org/seeinginthedark/astronomy-topics/andromeda-galaxy.html

Also, an audio note, the first minute or so of this episode Jordan sounds like she's underwater... was she underwater? UNCLEAR. It does clear up after the 1-2 min mark, and we appreciate your understanding that we're definitely (obviously?) not audio engineering/production experts. We'll keep trying our best to prevent such snafus :)

With love,
