Starry Time is a weekly podcast hosted by two sisters who bring their love of astronomy and mythology to reading and retelling the stories of the night sky.

EXPLORING THE SCIENCE
What is the best star in each constellation? Who gets to decide what is or isn't a constellation? Why do some stars look close together, even though they are far apart? How much imagination does it take to go from the constellation lines to mythological story? These are the types of questions we, as amateur astronomers, will try to answer in our fun AND educational segments Cosmic Background and Gold Star. |
RET-CONSTELLATIONING THE STORIES
Like many children, we grew up loving Greek mythology. As adults, we revisit these mythological stories of the constellations and realize just how vague, problematic, or down-right bizarre these myths can be. In each episode of Starry Time we tell these constellation myths, analyze their themes and purpose, and then ret-con the myths themselves into something more interesting, deeper, or, at least, more palatable to us. |
